Network monitor and firewall, program by program

Spectra shows which program on your Windows computer talks to the internet, where its data goes and which country it reaches. Block that program or address in one click, and the block stays after a restart.

Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit · The monitor is free · Pro is one payment per computer

Three questions, answered on one screen

SeeWhich program is connecting right now, to where, and from which country.
UnderstandHow much each program sends and receives, over the last five minutes or the last 24 hours.
DecideBlock a program, an address, a range or a domain. The rule is saved in Windows Firewall and survives a restart.

Spectra in two minutes

The traffic of each program over 24 hours, the global map of the connections, the firewall per application, the log archive and the scanner of the local network, in one window.

Transcript: Spectra shows which program on your Windows computer connects to the internet, where its data goes and which country it reaches. The traffic graph shows each program over the last 24 hours. The global map shows each connection flow. The firewall shows the status of every program, inbound and outbound. The log archive is searchable by field and exports to CSV and CEF. The scanner lists the devices of your local network.

What Spectra does, screen by screen

Free

Traffic per program, last 24 hours

A graph of download and upload for each program over the day. Peaks are marked on the timeline, so you see when a program started to send data.

  • Columns by application, host, traffic type and country
  • A map and a 3D globe of the live connections, both in the free version
  • Pause the graph on one moment: monitoring keeps recording

Traffic per program over the last 24 hours. Each marker is a program; a peak is a burst of download or upload.
Free

Every connection, with the program that owns it

Each TCP and UDP connection, with its process, state, service and remote address. Filter by program, address, port, protocol or state.

  • End a connection with a TCP reset, without stopping the program
  • Show IP addresses or host names, with one click
Connections list on Windows: process, PID, protocol, state, remote address and service for each connection
Connections with their process, state, service and remote address. Local addresses are hidden in this picture.
Pro

Firewall per application, in and out

The status of every program, inbound and outbound, in one table. Rules are saved in Windows Firewall and applied again at every start.

  • Block a program, an address, a range or a domain, and a remote port (tcp or udp)
  • Several programs at once: select them, choose block or unblock, and apply
  • Optional DNS lock and TCP/IP hardening, from the security options
Firewall per application on Windows: inbound and outbound status for each program, with blocked and allowed programs
Firewall per application. Inbound and outbound status for each program; the rules are kept by Windows Firewall.
Free

Alerts: risks first, then new programs

The Alerts tab puts what needs your attention at the top: security warnings and risks on the local network come before the first connection of each program.

  • Risks from the scanner: an open file-sharing port, or a router page reachable without a password
  • Unsigned or suspicious programs, and port scans against this PC
  • The first network connection of each program, with the path of its file

Pro

Log archive you can search, export and verify

Every connection, alert and block is kept in a daily archive that is compressed. On a test computer, one archived day went from 870.7 KB of text to 73.1 KB: 92% saved.

  • Search by field: ip, program, port, country, action and dates
  • Export CSV for a spreadsheet, or CEF for a SIEM
  • Verify integrity: each sealed day is checked against its SHA-256 digest
Log archive: search bar with quick filters, and the top countries and programs of the search

Scanner of the local network

Spectra lists the devices of your network and classifies them: router, computer, printer, device with open services. A scan takes seconds and changes nothing on the network.

  • Device type, manufacturer and operating system
  • Security check of each device, with the open services it shows
Scanner of the local network on Windows: device type, manufacturer, security check and last time seen for each device
Devices on the local network: type, manufacturer, system, security check and the last time each one was seen. Addresses are hidden in this picture.

Resources next to the network

CPU, memory, disk and GPU over the last five minutes, so you can tell a busy computer from a busy connection.

Pro

AI assistant on your own data

Ask in plain language: are there anomalies in this session, what is that program talking to, what should I check. The assistant reads the alerts, programs, connections and blocks, and advises. It never blocks anything: the decision stays with you.

Free, and Pro for one payment

The monitor is complete in the free version. Pro adds the parts that act on the network and the parts that explain it.

Who Spectra is for

Home usersYou want to know what your computer sends and where, without reading logs or rules.
Small offices and IT helpersFind an unexpected program on a workstation, block it, and keep the record of what happened.
Developers and security studentsSee which local and remote ports your tools open, and check each one before you trust it.

Your data stays on your computer

Spectra is built to show your network, not to collect it. Here is exactly what leaves the computer, and what does not.

Free versionEverything runs locally. Your traffic, your programs and your addresses stay on the computer.
Pro assistantYour question and a summary of the session go to the MZGuard licence server, which forwards them to the AI model. The server keeps the licence record and a monthly counter, not the conversation.
LicenceActivation sends the licence key and an identifier of the computer. The licence renews in the background while the computer is online.

Questions

Is Spectra free?

Yes. The monitor is free: live traffic per program, graph, globe, map, connections, alerts, the LAN scanner and the resources view. Pro adds the firewall, blocks, log archive and AI assistant, for one payment per computer.

Does Spectra send my data anywhere?

The free version works entirely on your computer. The Pro assistant sends your question and a summary of the session to the MZGuard licence server, which forwards it to the AI model. The server does not store the conversation.

Does Spectra need administrator rights?

Yes. The byte counters and the firewall need them, so Spectra asks for them when it starts. Only one copy runs at a time.

How many computers does a Pro licence cover?

One computer. The key is bound to the computer where it is activated.

What happens if the computer stays offline?

Pro keeps working offline for about two months after the last renewal. After that Spectra returns to the free version until the computer is back online.

Do blocks survive a restart?

Yes. Firewall rules and network blocks are saved and applied again when Spectra starts. A block on a domain follows its address, which is checked again every 15 minutes.

Can I end a connection from Spectra?

Yes. End connection closes that TCP socket with a reset, and the program keeps running. End process closes the whole application, after a warning about unsaved changes.

Which Windows versions are supported?

Windows 10 and Windows 11, 64-bit. Spectra is self-contained: it does not need a separate .NET installation.
